If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in Europe. I’m thinking somewhere in Scandinavia. Probably Sweden or Norway because I support their approach to justice over that of the United States. Sweden and Norway protect sex workers by decriminalizing selling sex, and criminalizing the purchase of it. Also, Scandinavian law emphasizes a welfare state, collective rights, and rehabilitation, whereas the U.S. places heavy emphasis on individual freedoms.
The U.S. also takes a more punitive and adversarial approach to law enforcement, whereas Scandinavian law prioritizes rehabilitation and features very low recidivism rates. Further, Scandinavian law prioritizes humane prison environments where inmates retain independence. This allows criminals to retain their humanity.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Comment to let me know!
