Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, symbolized the spiritual victory of light over darkness, or of good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The celebrations last five or six days, The extended nature of this holiday is why I wish Diwali was commonly celebrated in America. I think we Americans do not traditionally celebrate any holiday for five to six days.
