A moment that made me question reality was when I took LSD for the first time. I was at Frank and Lucius’s apartment, chilling. As soon as it got dark, Lucius held up a tiny paper tab between my eyes and his. “Take it,” he said as he handed it to me.
“What do I do with it?”
“You can either put in on your tongue and dissolve it then it takes fifteen minutes, or you can swallow it and it will kick in in an hour” said Frank. I looked at Lucius. He nodded.
“Ok…” I said, and put it on my tongue and waited for it to dissolve. However, I got so nervous that I swallowed it.
I spent the entire evening laying on the carpeted floor of that apartment, spellbound as my vision melted in streaks before my eyes. I felt things I had not felt since I was a very young child: a deep sense of empathy for every other being on this planet collectively. A single tear slid down my cheek.
