What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

MY favorite holiday is the 4th of July because I live in America, and July 4th is this country’s independence day. It was when descendants of adventurous European mutts liberated themselves from taxation paid to The British Empire. It is my favorite because I think fireworks are dazzling. Also, Liberty’s Kids was one of my favorite shows. This animated children’s program was the story of the American revolution as told from the perspective of some American teenagers.

    I loved *Liberty’s Kids*! As for my favorite holiday…I guess it’s Halloween. It’s so much fun! 😀

        I think my favorite Halloween story was the Wishbone version of *The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.* It was mysterious and just the right amount of scary! 😀

        I really wish they had finished *Liberty’s Kids.* They left us hanging!

        I am so glad you enjoyed that one! The Legend of Sleepy Hollow always scared me a lot as a kid… What happened in the Wishbone version?

        I was really disappointed when they never finished Liberty’s kids too!

        From what I remember (it’s been quite a while since I saw it), Wishbone’s owner – Joe – had an experience with the local haunted house that scared him. He got dared to go up to the front door, but when he reached for the knob, the door opened on its own. Two yellow eyes looked out at him, and he understandably beat feet for the hills.

        Wishbone has been chasing a black cat through the episode, and he casts himself as Ichabod Crane after hearing about Joe’s story. In the Sleepy Hollow adjacent story, Wishbone/Ichabod is chased by the Horseman, who casts a pumpkin at him despite Crane’s claim that he is safe and the Horseman can’t hurt him. The next day, an old couple finds what is left of the pumpkin and a little something that belonged to Crane. Crane’s rival for the girl’s love rides by, mocking them for their superstition. Then the camera focuses on the emblem for the rival’s horse – and it is revealed to be the same emblem that was on the Headless Horseman’s harness.

        Back in Oakdale, Joe must dare the haunted house again for a school Halloween scavenger hunt. The black cat runs out of the room the local bully was “accidentally” locked within, and Joe thinks that explains what he saw years ago when he first tried to enter the house. He and the others leave, with Joe much more confident than before….

        Then the camera pans back to the house, the door opens, and the audience sees the yellow eyes again. I think it’s accompanied by a creepy laugh, too. So. Was it really the cat? Who knows? Joe has proven his courage, and the local bully has lost his after being locked in the house. Gee, wonder what the *bully* saw….
