Society goes to great lengths to avoid discussing the topic of PMS, so much so that many girls think they are dying when they see blood in their underwear for the first time. Also, birth control that halts or lessens a period is not widely understood, and usually only recommended for adults who have said that having their period causes them significant emotional distress.
In my opinion, girls should be taught about this type of birth control in their early teens. The fact that women are made to needlessly suffer throughout their teenage years is unacceptable, and evidence of misogyny in society today.
