The Buddhists have identified the state of wu-wei. Wu-wei is a state in which one performs a creative action without conscious effort. Examples of wu-wei is someone performing gymnastics in the Olympics or performing a solo on an instrument at a concert.
This state can be compared to the state we are in when we ride bikes. One can balance in an automatic way on a bike riding down the street. So too can creative effort can flow from the mind in an effortless way when one is in a state of wu-wei.
Sports are another example of wu-wei. Players perform in states of wu-wei to accomplish great feats, like winning championships. This is creative action in a more physical sense, but it is creativity nonetheless.
I recognize that I do enter into a state of wu-wei when I write sometimes. When the words flow freely from my fingertips, this is how I personally can manifest my deepest self.
When do you think you get into a state of wu-wei? Comment to let me know!
