If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?

If I had to give up one word that I use on a regular basis, I would be frightened. Nothing like this has ever occurred in
the history of America. I value my right to free speech very much.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. I am very lucky I do not live under a dictatorship. This comment helps me appreciate what I have, and to not take free speech for granted.

When I was a little girl, I lived in a country under dictatorship. Because I was born into it, I didn’t know what freedom of speech meant. You get used to choosing your words wisely otherwise you get thrown in jail for libel. The government will not tolerate violent hate speech especially those against them. We have since moved to the US and are citizens now. You cannot imagine the gratitude we feel that nothing we say in public will get us into trouble. Our constitution also gives us the right to protest. That’s unheard of in a dictatorship country. Many people conveniently (to the government) “disappear” without a trace. Not even their families know where they went and are presumed dead. In the US, they can try, but will always fail.
