My favorite thing about myself is my intelligence. I scored in the 99th percentile of the IOWA Test of Basic Skills. This means I scored higher than 99% of other kids my age. This was nice, while it lasted.
This great intelligence was lost, though, when I rolled a 2-door car at over 100 mph in 2011. Though my recovery was excellent, my IQ was reduced to about 105-107. This is barely above average, and it pales in comparison to my vast intellect as a young child.
It’s okay, though, because this experience taught me that there’s more to life than one’s intellect. Now, I think that how one treats others is more important than how smart one is. I am even grateful for the terrible experience because it gave me a much broader perspective.
