What was it like before the internet? Was everybody more or less ignorant than they are now? How the creation of the internet manifest in society?

Before the internet, people got info from books, newspapers, and face-to-face talks. Life was slower and social circles smaller. Not more ignorant, just less instantly connected. The internet made information and communication fast and global, changing how we live, work, and connect—but it also brought new challenges like misinformation.
