What skill would you like to learn?

I would like to become fluent in a language besides English. Only speaking English limits me to only having certain experiences, while it excludes me from others. However, that being said, I’m glad English is my first language. I know it is an extremely difficult second language to learn, and I have major respect for anyone who learned English beyond childhood.

Is English anybody’s second language? If so, what is your first language? What was the hardest part of learning English? Let me know in the comments!

My first language is Hungarian. They say that’s a unique language in Europe. I started learning English at the age of 14 & still trying to keep it updated. I studied French, Russian, German as well. Not fluent though. Learning languages opens the world up.

Wow! Your English is indistinguishable from a native’s! I give you major props for learning it as an older child! From what little I know, Hungarian does sound like a tricky language to learn. According to 23andMe, it is possible my ancestors were from Hungary, namely Budapest and Baranya. Where are you from? Learning languages does open up the world, so your world must be huge!! How do you say “what’s up” or “how’s it going?” in Russian? I know the letters are different… could you please spell out how it would sound? I’m just curious!

        “What’s up?” – Ну, что? – ( Nu, shto ?)
“How’s it going? – Как дела? – ( Kak djela?)
        Hope it makes sense 🙂
To be honest, I’m not fluent in these languages. We say in Hungarian ‘they couldn’t sell me’ 😀, that’s all after so many years without practice.
