When I was in high school, my absolute favorite show was, “House,” a medical drama about a witty, grumpy doctor addicted to Vicodin. Decades passed before I understood why I liked this show so much.

The topic of my capstone in college was on Thomas Hobbes great work, “Leviathan.” Hobbes’s conception of human’s true “state of nature” was “everyone for themselves,” originally expressed by Hobbes as “Bellum omnium contra omnen,” which is Latin for, “God of war everyone versus everyone.” It does not translate perfectly, wphich is why the phrase “Everybody Lies” was used by House.

“God of war everyone versus everyone,” as being the true state of human nature tracks, especially today. Protesters and people filming the governments actions have been murdered by the American government. I wish I was exaggerating.
