December, hands down. Yes, it’s chaotic. Yes, the mall parking lot becomes a post-apocalyptic war zone. But there’s something about dark evenings lit only by Christmas lights and the promise of people trying—really trying—to be kind to one another. I love the way the cold makes hugs last longer, how every song on the radio suddenly has the power to make you cry in the grocery store, and the pure magic of watching snow fall on Christmas Eve. December feels like the whole world holds its breath in hope.
