After I retire, I would like to do mission work through a non-religiously affiliated mission group abroad. I got this idea from my grandma Joan, who was my dad’s mother.
My grandma Joan earned a double master’s degree. One was in something like biomedical engineering, and the other was in something else from the University of Chicago. After that, she raised a family of six on her own, because her husband had a stroke in his 40s. She worked as a French teacher. She knew some Latin as well.
When my grandma Joan was 75, she reportedly went to Africa and packed diapers around ambulances. This allowed the ambulances to be snuck into war zones.
