My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass, and A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Mass. The last two books are part of a series I’m reading now. It was recommended to me by a friend. They tell the story of a young woman, Feyre.
At first, she is in a plight to save her family. She allows herself to be kidnapped by Tamlin, who treats he as a guest in his home. Then, she is kidnapped and is put in a prison cell “under the mountain” with Amarantha. Amarantha tests her will with a series of “tests,” all of which Feyre passes. But, in the second book, she is forced to live with Rhysand for one week a month. He is another high lord who tricked her into making a promise under the mountain.
But, in the second book, Feyre argues with her lover Tamlin about her freedoms. Tamlin vows to keep her safe, but in doing so restricts he freedom. Feyre willingly leaves Tamlin to go to stay with Rhysand. Rhysand shows her a beautiful city – one that remained untouched by Aramantha. This is where I’m at in the book now. Please, no spoilers!
