As a young child, I was always very curious. My parents, especially my father, would always answer my questions, even when I was asking them at random.
Fast forward 15 years. I was accepted at UW-La Crosse, and I began applying for student loans to cover the costs of my housing. I asked, “Mom, what student loans should I take out for college?”
“Take out all the federal loans that you can.”
“Okay.”
In college, my curious nature became insidious. I did whatever drugs were placed in my palm or lined up on the table. I stayed away from heroin and meth – every thing else was fair game.
Every week, I bought a quarter of an ounce of weed, which, at that time was a hundred dollars.
In 2021, I applied for disability. It was granted, and, because of this, the federal government decided to forgive all of my federal student loans.
