One of my doctors witnessed how sleepy I was after 8 hours of sleep in a controlled setting. So, they prescribed me 30mg Adderall XR every day. My current insurance, Medicaid, does not “accept the diagnosis code” this doctor used to prescribe me this controlled substance. Ergo, I have to pay for my medication out of pocket. The price of it is over 200 dollars, but I use free discounts to lower the cost to $50. In the long term, this is not sustainable. I am lucky enough to be able to not to have a real job right now – that’s why I’m on Medicaid. Yet, this shows another instance of insurance companies using tricky practices to deny credible insurance claims.
