What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received was at a party. I made my way down to the basement and sat down at the bar. Soon, I started talking to the man sitting next to me. We hit it off.

He was about 20 years older than me, and black. Every other person at the party was white.

At the very end of the night, the very last thing he said to me was, “Hey, you’re cool. You’re fucking cool. Don’t let anybody change you.”
