I am currently prescribed Adderall for my excessive sleepiness, or hypersomnia, which I developed as the result of a brain injury when I was a teen.

I am publishing this to document my experience.

Adderall is most commonly prescribed for ADHD. However, when I took a cognitive test after my injury, it was determined that I didn’t meet the criteria for this disorder.

It wasn’t until later, after years of seeing different doctors and really advocating for myself, that I was first prescribed a stimulant medication. It was only a small amount of Ritalin, but it really helped.

It wasn’t until I was in college at UW La Crosse that a doctor suggested that I try Adderall.

Adderall changed my life. I was fully awake for the first time in many years, and my grades went up. I could focus and concentrate, unlike before, when I was so tired that I could not. I felt like a fog had been lifted from my consciousness, and I could not have been happier.

I am now able to stay awake all day without naps. This allows me to live a normal life, regularly engaging in activities like work, exercise, and spend time with loved ones.
