There are many health benefits to not wearing a bra. Comfort was the biggest motivation for me personally to stop wearing bras, but seeing my sister do it is what originally gave me the idea. There are many more benefits than just comfort. Breasts unbridled by this patriarchal invention do not sag as easily as breasts perpetually weakened by bras. Going braless improves breast skin health and circulation and relieves pressure on your shoulders and back.
When I think about this, I go into a rage at the patriarchy, which has normalized this cruel torture mechanism for their own visual pleasure. Bellum omnium contra omness is Latin for Hobbes’s conception of the fundamental state of human nature. It means “a state of war of everyone against everyone”, and this is what bras remind me of.
