What would you change about modern society?

I would change the laws. Here in Wisconsin, USA, marijuana, abortion, and sex work are all illegal. Compelling evidence exists to put scientific reality at odds with the law. I argue that Wisconsin would be a better place if marijuana, abortion, and sex work were legal for consenting adults.

That’s not to say teens should be denied abortions. What I’m saying is that nobody should be denied the right to happiness and autonomy.

Marijuana has a host of medicinal uses, including, but not limited to increased appetite, eased nausea, relaxed mood, and assistance with sleep. It can also help treat the symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Autonomy is important because it is a basic human right. Everyone should know that, and yet here we are. When lawmakers disregard science, things can get pretty dicey.
