Never trust a cop

Cops can legally lie to you. In interrogations they do it all the time. If you are approached by a cop, it is best to keep absolutely silent. The first line they read to you in your Miranda rights is, “You have the right to remain silent.” So, don’t open your mouth if you’re ever spoken to be a cop.
