“Go with your gut. Love is complicated.”

-Unsolicited advice from my “ex”’s mom

So, I have a couple things to say about this. First of all, my ex told me how his parents would fight badly, and his dad even tried to trap his mom in the house multiple times. Do I want this woman’s advice on how to love? Absolutely not.

Second of all, this advice came out of nowhere. Like, we weren’t even talking and she sends me this big long paragraph which ends with the quoted passage above.
