I was in Madison, Wisconsin. It was pitch black, pouring rain, and my best friend and I were running down a sidewalk. We were on high doses of LSD. I had left a family party to come do this acid.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, every centimeter of my entire vision was absolutely consumed by this vivid, beautiful, shining white light. Then, as suddenly as it had appeared, my vision snapped back to the gritty wet darkness surrounding me. I stopped in my tracks and put my hands on my knees. Had that just happened? I must be dreaming, I thought, but the tactile sensation of the rain on my skin insisted my reality.

That night, Zoryg and I lay in the dark. After I’d described to him what I saw, I asked him, “Have you ever seen anything like that on acid?”

I swear a twinge of disappointment grazed his tone as he responded, “No.”
